Vasco da Gama 26/27 special edition Cruz de Malta shirt

A shirt in black from top to bottom, with a mottled tonal graphic that can be sensed in the fabric and adds texture without breaking the sobriety of the whole. The collar is round and finished in yellow, and the same yellow returns on the cuffs of the short raglan-cut sleeves. At the centre of the chest stands the red Maltese Cross, and just below it the VG monogram in gold. On the front hem, a woven label carries the club’s identity.

Club de Regatas Vasco da Gama, from Rio de Janeiro, is one of the great names of Brazilian football and plays at São Januário, one of the most historic stadiums in the country. The Maltese Cross, inherited from the Portuguese tradition that gave rise to the club, is its most recognisable symbol, alongside the black and white sash and the memory of having been a pioneer in opening football to players of every background.

How to measure

The most reliable way is to measure a shirt you already own that fits you well. Lay it flat without stretching it:

• Chest: measure from armpit to armpit and multiply by two. Compare the result with the “Chest” column.
• Length: measure from the highest point of the shoulder, next to the collar, down to the hem.
• Kids: go by height; age is only a guide.
• Trainers: stand with your heel against a wall on a sheet of paper, mark the tip of your longest toe and measure the distance in centimetres.
