Newcastle United’s home kit for the 26/27 season brings back the black and white vertical stripes that have identified the club since its origins, worked here with irregular widths that give a dynamic effect and with areas of textured fabric in black. The collar is round in black and the shoulders feature sky blue details that are repeated on the sleeve trim, a touch of colour that breaks the classic contrast. The crest is embroidered on the right of the chest, with the sportswear brand on the other side and the sponsor centred.

Their history includes English league titles in the early decades of the 20th century, several FA Cups and a Tyne-Wear derby with Sunderland that has marked entire generations of supporters.

How to measure

The most reliable way is to measure a shirt you already own that fits you well. Lay it flat without stretching it:

• Chest: measure from armpit to armpit and multiply by two. Compare the result with the “Chest” column.
• Length: measure from the highest point of the shoulder, next to the collar, down to the hem.
• Kids: go by height; age is only a guide.
• Trainers: stand with your heel against a wall on a sheet of paper, mark the tip of your longest toe and measure the distance in centimetres.
