River Plate 26/27 away shirt

River Plate’s away kit for the 26/27 season breaks with the predictable and goes for an intense red base. Across the chest and running diagonally down towards the left side is a play of fine maroon lines that recalls the club’s characteristic band, subtly reinterpreted here. The collar is round in black, with the three white stripes running along the shoulders and black and white trim on the cuffs. The crest is embroidered on the right chest and the sponsor’s lettering stands out in white.

Club Atlético River Plate was born in the Buenos Aires neighbourhood of La Boca and is today home to the Monumental, in Núñez. Los Millonarios traditionally wear white with the red diagonal band, boast an enormous trophy cabinet in Argentina and in the Copa Libertadores, and live every Superclásico against Boca as the hottest match in South American football.

How to measure

The most reliable way is to measure a shirt you already own that fits you well. Lay it flat without stretching it:

• Chest: measure from armpit to armpit and multiply by two. Compare the result with the “Chest” column.
• Length: measure from the highest point of the shoulder, next to the collar, down to the hem.
• Kids: go by height; age is only a guide.
• Trainers: stand with your heel against a wall on a sheet of paper, mark the tip of your longest toe and measure the distance in centimetres.
